Welcome to Tax Season 2024

As we turn the corner on another year, it’s time to shift gears into Tax Season 2024. The IRS will start accepting and processing returns on Monday, Jan. 29, 2024. Tax returns are due on Monday, April 15, 2024. Now that tax filing season has officially begun, now is an ideal time to meet with your advisor to discuss your goals in 2024 and how we may best support them.

To help you get a head start and ensure a smooth filing process, we’ve compiled some key deadlines and important updates you should be aware of. 

 

RESERVE A MEETING TIME

We invite you to schedule a tax appointment at your earliest convenience to accommodate for an optimal planning and preparation experience. To secure your preferred date and time, we highly recommend booking your appointment early. In your request, please note your meeting preference via Zoom, phone call, or in-person meeting.

 

NEW REPORTING REQUIREMENTS

Effective Jan. 1, 2024, a number of entities will now be subject to new reporting obligations under the Corporate Transparency Act. Please note: These new reporting requirements are outside the scope of our services and may necessitate the need for legal guidance and direction. Read our article for additional information.

 

KEY FILING AND PAYMENT DATES

Following is a list of important tax filing deadlines and federal payment extension deadlines for tax season 2024.

 

  • Employer Form W-2 and Payors Form 1099-NEC: Jan. 31, 2024
  • Quarterly payroll and excise tax returns: Jan. 31, 2024 and April 30, 2024
  • Partnership and S-corporation returns: March 15, 2024
  • Individual, C-corporations, estate & trust tax returns: April 15, 2024
  • IRA and health savings account (HSA) contributions: April 15, 2024 (for 2023 contributions)
  • Quarterly estimated tax payments: April 15, 2024, June 17, 2024, Sept. 16, 2024, and Jan. 15, 2025

 

SUBMIT YOUR TAX DOCUMENTS

The new electronic organizers for individual returns will be sent via email over the next few weeks. Should you receive an electronic organizer and prefer to use paper, please let us know, and we will accommodate your request.

For businesses and other tax filers, you may upload tax documents to the Share Safe Secure Portal. You can also mail or drop off tax documents at the reception desk during office hours. If it is before or after office hours, please place them in the secure outdoor drop box.

 

EXTENDED OFFICE HOURS

For added convenience, we’ve extended our hours of operation from 7:30am to 5:30pm Monday – Friday and 9:00am – 1:00pm on Saturdays, starting on Thurs., Feb. 1.
